Fuse Board Upgrade in Petersfield – Ready for a Modern Kitchen Installation

We recently completed a fuse board (consumer unit) upgrade for a property in Petersfield as part of an ongoing kitchen renovation.

When kitchens are being redesigned, it’s the perfect time to review the electrics. Modern kitchens demand far more power than older installations were designed to handle — induction hobs, double ovens, dishwashers, boiling water taps and integrated appliances all require safe, reliable circuit protection.

Why the Fuse Board Needed Replacing

The existing board was outdated and no longer suitable for a modern kitchen setup. A new consumer unit provides:

  • Individual circuit protection

  • RCD/RCBO protection for improved safety

  • Compliance with current wiring regulations

  • Capacity for additional kitchen circuits

  • Better fault detection and isolation

Safety always comes first — especially in kitchens where water and electricity are in close proximity.

The Installation

The new fuse board has been installed and neatly wired, with clearly labelled circuits for ease of identification and future maintenance.

You’ll notice the cabling is currently exposed — this is intentional.

The kitchen is due to be installed shortly, and the consumer unit will be housed inside a purpose-built cabinet as part of the final layout. Installing it now ensures:

  • All electrical testing and certification can be completed

  • New circuits are in place ready for appliances

  • No disruption once kitchen units are fitted

  • A clean, concealed finish once cabinetry is installed

Planning electrics around cabinetry avoids costly rework later.

Future-Proofed & Compliant

The new board allows for expansion should the homeowner wish to add:

  • Under-cabinet lighting

  • Garden power

  • EV charging

  • Additional sockets

  • Smart home controls

Everything has been installed in line with current regulations and will be fully certified upon completion.

If you're renovating a kitchen in Petersfield or the surrounding areas, upgrading your fuse board at the same time is a smart move. It’s safer, more efficient, and ensures your new kitchen runs exactly as it should from day one.
